The key aim of this project for the Engineering Science department at Oxford University was to bring together a variety of computer based and robotics study groups into one building to achieve greater collaboration and interaction.

The six storey building is situated on a sensitive urban site in the Centre of Oxford and is linked into adjacent university buildings. The design aims to maximize the net usable space, subject to constraints of the site and Town Planning controls. The building, completed in 2004, accommodates office based researched space, break-out space, lecture theatres and meeting rooms which are arranged around a courtyard which allows natural light into the adjacent existing buildings. Richard led the project from stages A to C as project architect while at RMJM.
